I wish I had taken pictures of what I was cooking this week, but I have been so sick and doped up on cough syrup it always slipped my mind. I started the week out feeling fine, went to sleep one night and when I woke up I was so sick. I could barely keep my eyes open and just wanted to curl up on the couch under a blanket. On day 1 of the uber sickness I did manage to try out a new recipe....

I know it may not look like much. But it is real home cooking and home cooking doesn’t have to look good :P Fricot is an old Acadian dish. My mom used to make it all the time when I was younger and thought I’d give it a try. It’s really easy and tasted really good. Especially on a cold day when I don’t want to turn on the heater just yet. It definetely warms you up.

This morning I made an herb and cheese bubble loaf. It kind of has a pizza crust flavour to it, so fun lunch we’re dipping into marinara sauce :) It was actually really easy to make. The most time consuming part was cutting the rolled out dough into squares, rolling them into balls, and dipping them in the mixture. It only took about 1/2 to make the dough. Hope it’s gonna be tastey ...

Soup de jour
I haven’t have any new culinary adventures recently. I did make my very first batch of soup a couple of weeks ago. I made your standard chicken soup with celery, onions, and carrots. Threw it all into a crockpot and added some whole wheat rotini an hour or so before dinner. Chris said it was probably the best soup he’s ever eaten (such a sweet liar! haha). Today for lunch I’m...
